I normally wouldn’t go for a shimmery bronze colored bag, but the soft style of this one is quite attractive. I think it is the casually tied bow on the side that takes things down and notch and makes me kind of like it. It looks comfortable and soft and at 11¼”H x 17″W x 7″D, it’s a good size for every day use. It closes with a magnetic snap at the top and has two interior pockets. $1895.

From Boyy’s Ratt Pakk Collection, the Franky is a nice choice for a mid-sized bag that offers two-way style – a detachable shoulder strap and adjustable handles. But the real beauty is in the inclusion of a structured bottom compartment accessible through a wide double zipper. I love that. The navy blue leather has a beautifully worn look and the bag measures 12″W x 6″D x 12″H. $528.

It may be time to put away the white bag, but you don’t have to go all the way to the other end of the color spectrum. In shiny patent leather, this stunning cream colored bag is the perfect transition from summer to fall. The slight gathering at the corners give it a casual look and the minimal gold-tone hardware make it a perfect bag for dressing up a pair of jeans. With a large zippered top, it is lined in a cream logo print and features an interior zip pocket as well as two slide pockets. $335.

Jimmy Choo Rio Evening Bag

Though I love almost anything designed by Jimmy Choo, I’m not quite so impressed with the designer’s Rio Evening Bag. Slickly constructed of suede and leather, it features an adjustable belt detail that somehow seems far too utilitarian for this edgy purse. It’s also slightly ruched on the bottom and wrapped with a flap and golden clasp. In other words, there’s just too much going on here. I would rather carry something more refined when I head out for the evening. Available for $1373 at Diabro.

To appreciate the impact of this bag, consider its size: a roomy 15″ x 15″ with a 16½” across-the-body strap. It’s big and beautifully shaped in a brown and black zebra print, cinched at the top with a slim leather belt. The gold-tone hardware on the buckle and rings has a pretty pebbly texture and inside it’s fully lined. A stunning fall bag for $2590.

Former MJ bag designer Joy Gryson’s Tutu satchel is a vision in red. Actually, the color is cerise and it’s a glowing example of distressed done right. Made from Italian calfskin leather, the bag is accented with distressed leather on the handles, adjustable shoulder strap and trim. The hardware is a pale gold and the interior features suede lining and both zip and slide pockets. $1295.

Lanvin Jeanne Pouchette, Handbag of the Day

This is a sharp looking leather bag with lots of nice silver-tone detail. Why did they have to go and ruin it with that cotton web strap? I like the contrast, but black leather would have been a better choice, I think. Looking past the adjustable strap, the little pouchette is pretty with the details and at 10″x6.5″x3.5″, it is a nice compact size. The bag is also available in black and dark khaki, presumably with the same icky strap. $1065.

Kim White Large Travel Bag, Handbag of the Day

And now for something completely different. Kim White’s Brown and Cream Large Travel Bag is made from recycled automobile upholstery. This particular fabric came from a 1974 Plymouth Fury and features a subtlety colored pattern that looks a bit like vintage wallpaper. Trimmed in brown leather and accented with gold, it has a large zipper top and two interior pockets. As you might expect from recycled car seats, some of her bags are a bit garish. But I think this one looks soft and feminine. $380.

We’re nowhere near Valentine’s Day, but wouldn’t this just be the cutest gift for…well, yourself? Fortunately you don’t need to use holidays as an excuse to indulge, no matter how fitting the bag in question might be. This Heart-Shaped Coin Purse by Luella is adorable and highly luxe, with red metallic snakeskin leather, a delicate heart logo charm and black suede lining. It doesn’t get more girly than this. Available for $273 at MyTheresa.
